Henna / Mendi
Henna /Mendi is a gentle art form that has encompassed my cultures throughout time.
I apply a soft paste with a cone in creative shapes and patterns - Its like frosting a cookie. The Paste Dries it flattens to the skin - and sticks to the skin like a sticker. After the paste is removed - the stain will be a bright pumpkin orange. Then it will darking to a beautiful warm redish-brown. The longer the paste is left on (up to 6 hours) the darker the stain and the longer it will last. Henna stains the top few layers of the skin and will naturally fade in 1-3 weeks (depending on location of the body) like a suntan.
All my paste is hand made with high quality henna powder, water/Lemon Juice and essential oils.
Though natural henna is very gentle - some people do have some adverse reactions and they may simply be allergic.
*BLACK HENNA IS NOT HENNA* - Natural henna is brown, if you are presented with black henna (not Jagua - which is a inky blue color) it is actually a black hair dye and this is when you see the scary news stories about someone (a tourist usually) had a bad reaction, burns, and scaring. Be careful out there.
